D\u2019ailleurs, le v\u00e9hicule est d\u00e9j\u00e0 en vente depuis le mois de juillet dernier. Voil\u00e0 qui explique pourquoi nous mettons \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9preuve cette version 2021 du Ford Escape hybride rechargeable \u00e0 quelques semaines de 2022. Ne soyez pas \u00e9tonn\u00e9s de voir appara\u00eetre assez rapidement les exemplaires 2022 du m\u00eame v\u00e9hicule au fil des prochaines semaines.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019aile canadienne avait donc convi\u00e9 quelques membres de la presse automobile locale dans la province la plus \u00e0 l\u2019ouest pour un premier contact avec ce tout premier Ford Escape hybride rechargeable 2021. Il y a bien entendu cette trappe obligatoire log\u00e9e sur l\u2019aile gauche du v\u00e9hicule, elle qui abrite le port de recharge. Dans ce cas-ci, Ford nous avait confi\u00e9 une livr\u00e9e Titanium (la plus \u00e9quip\u00e9e) munie de l\u2019ensemble optionnel Titanium \u00c9lite (2 300 $) qui comprenait l\u2019afficheur t\u00eate haute et quelques autres luxes r\u00e9serv\u00e9s au mod\u00e8le le plus cossu. Toutefois, gr\u00e2ce au syst\u00e8me Co-Pilot360, le r\u00e9gulateur adaptatif avec arr\u00eat\/d\u00e9marrage et maintien au centre de la voie et l\u2019assistance \u00e0 la direction font d\u00e9j\u00e0 partie de l\u2019\u00e9quipement de base du Titanium. La surveillance des angles morts et l\u2019alerte de trafic transversal arri\u00e8re, l\u2019assistance pr\u00e9collision, la cam\u00e9ra de recul, la d\u00e9tection des objets arri\u00e8re sont \u00e9galement dignes de mention ici.<\/p>\n<p>Le Ford Escape hybride rechargeable est bien entendu \u00e9quip\u00e9 d\u2019un syst\u00e8me antipatinage, d\u2019un contr\u00f4le de la stabilit\u00e9, de multiples coussins gonflables et d\u2019un syst\u00e8me SOS suite \u00e0 un accident. L\u00e0 o\u00f9 le Ford Escape enfichable se d\u00e9marque de ses deux concurrents directs, c\u2019est au niveau de sa motricit\u00e9. La position de la batterie sous le plancher n\u2019a donc aucune incidence sur le volume int\u00e9rieur du Ford Escape. D\u2019ailleurs, Ford se targue \u00e9galement d\u2019avoir conserv\u00e9 sa banquette arri\u00e8re coulissante de l\u2019avant vers l\u2019arri\u00e8re, ce qui permet d\u2019agrandir le volume du coffre ou, mieux encore, de donner plus d\u2019espace aux passagers de la deuxi\u00e8me rang\u00e9e.<\/p>\n<h3>Convivialit\u00e9 : 8\/10<\/h3>\n<p>Le syst\u00e8me SYNC de Ford est d\u00e9j\u00e0 une r\u00e9f\u00e9rence dans l\u2019industrie et force est d\u2019admettre que ses menus relativement simples rendent la vie plus facile de celui ou celle qui tient le volant. Or, dans ce cas-ci, je n\u2019ai pas eu besoin de mon c\u00e2ble de recharge personnel pour raviver mon t\u00e9l\u00e9phone intelligent. La console centrale est assez basse, \u00e0 l\u2019exception du bac de rangement sous l\u2019accoudoir central, ce qui lib\u00e8re de l\u2019espace pour les passagers \u00e0 l\u2019avant. Il y a cette molette pour s\u00e9lectionner les rapports de la bo\u00eete automatique, tandis qu\u2019un quatuor de gros boutons permet au conducteur d\u2019actionner les aides au stationnement, les diff\u00e9rents modes de conduite ou m\u00eame la gestion de la recharge de la batterie.<\/p>\n<h3>Confort : 8,5\/10<\/h3>\n<p>\u00c0 ce compte, le Ford Escape hybride rechargeable se positionne comme une superbe option pour avaler les kilom\u00e8tres. Malgr\u00e9 la pr\u00e9sence de pneus d\u2019hiver, le VUS s\u2019est montr\u00e9 tr\u00e8s silencieux, en plus de consommer peu d\u2019essence. Qui plus est, la mollesse de ses si\u00e8ges et cette suspension confortable sont deux autres atouts du mod\u00e8le hybride rechargeable. Le hic, c\u2019est que la majorit\u00e9 des routes emprunt\u00e9es en Colombie-Britannique \u00e9taient bien entretenues, mais un peu rugueuses. En gros, la friction des pneus avec le bitume a r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9 le manque d\u2019insonorisation au niveau des arches de roues. Dans la majorit\u00e9 des cas, l\u2019\u00e9lectrification partielle d\u2019un v\u00e9hicule a pour mission de r\u00e9duire la facture de carburant du consommateur, mais il arrive que l\u2019\u00e9nergie \u00e9lectrique soit mise \u00e0 contribution pour bonifier les performances. Dans le cas qui nous int\u00e9resse, l\u2019Escape appartient \u00e0 la premi\u00e8re cat\u00e9gorie. Oui, c\u2019est vrai qu\u2019un mode Sport aiguise quelque peu les r\u00e9actions du groupe motopropulseur, mais on ne parle pas d\u2019un v\u00e9hicule aussi v\u00e9loce que le RAV4 Prime par exemple. Il y a tout de m\u00eame un \u00e9cart de 82 chevaux entre les deux rivaux.<\/p>\n<p>Les acc\u00e9l\u00e9rations n\u2019ont rien \u00e0 voir avec celle d\u2019une Mustang GT et la tenue de route est celle d\u2019un VUS compact. Toutefois, le poids plus important g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9 par la batterie log\u00e9e sous le v\u00e9hicule fait en sorte que l\u2019Escape hybride rechargeable s\u2019illustre dans les virages. Bien plant\u00e9 sur la route avec son centre de gravit\u00e9 un peu plus bas, l\u2019utilitaire se montre tr\u00e8s rassurant, et ce, malgr\u00e9 l\u2019absence d\u2019un rouage int\u00e9gral. La direction est l\u00e9g\u00e8re, mais pr\u00e9cise et cette suspension est un beau m\u00e9lange de fermet\u00e9 et de confort. Merci \u00e9galement aux ing\u00e9nieurs qui auraient pu \u00eatre tent\u00e9s d\u2019ajouter des jantes surdimensionn\u00e9es sur cette livr\u00e9e Titanium. Si les modes Eco, Normal, Sport et autres sont presque devenus monnaie courante de nos jours, ce n\u2019est pas tout \u00e0 fait le cas pour les v\u00e9hicules PHEV. Avec ce bouton \u00ab EV \u00bb log\u00e9 entre les deux passagers avant, on peut d\u00e9cider de laisser le v\u00e9hicule g\u00e9rer comme bon lui semble la gestion de l\u2019\u00e9nergie, forcer le v\u00e9hicule \u00e0 utiliser uniquement la batterie comme mode de propulsion, garder l\u2019\u00e9nergie \u00e9lectrique pour plus tard ou m\u00eame d\u2019utiliser le moteur thermique pour recharger la batterie\u2026 au d\u00e9triment de la consommation.<\/p>\n<h3>Puissance : 7\/10<\/h3>\n<p>Malgr\u00e9 le fait que l\u2019Escape hybride rechargeable occupe la deuxi\u00e8me place en termes de puissance derri\u00e8re le mod\u00e8le EcoBoost muni du bloc 2,0-litres turbo, \u00e7a ne fait pas de lui une machine d\u2019acc\u00e9l\u00e9ration. Avec 220 chevaux combin\u00e9s et un couple de 155 lb-pi (moteur thermique seulement), le mod\u00e8le enfichable n\u2019est pas aussi bien nanti que le mod\u00e8le phare de la gamme. De plus, il ne faut pas oublier que l\u2019Escape \u00e9lectrifi\u00e9 compte sur une bo\u00eete CVT dont la mission premi\u00e8re est de r\u00e9duire la consommation de carburant. En adoptant une conduite tr\u00e8s repos\u00e9e avec le mode Eco enclench\u00e9e, le mode hybride de gestion de la batterie et effectuant de tr\u00e8s courtes distances, il est possible d\u2019y arriver.<\/p>\n<p>Or, j\u2019ai d\u00e9cid\u00e9 pour la derni\u00e8re portion de cet essai de faire appel \u00e0 la recharge de la batterie par le moteur thermique, ce qui a une incidence sur la consommation.
