Ford F-150 Lightning with Pro Power Onboard

A pickup truck should be functional and capable, and the all-electric Ford F-150 Lightning is all that but so much more with Pro Power OnboardTM*, giving you the ability to use the truck as a powerful, mobile electricity source.

With 9.6 kilowatts of available power, the feature comes standard on the XLT, Lariat and Platinum versions of the F-150 Lightning. The bed, cab and Mega Power Trunk all have 120V outlets, with a 240V outlet in the bed to power larger tools. And to make sure you don’t get stranded, the FordPass® app† can tell you when battery power falls below a specific range. A 2.4 kW version is standard on the exclusively fleet-only F-150 Lightning Pro, while the 9.6 kW Pro Power Onboard is available.

The F-150 Lightning has two battery sizes: the standard 98 kWh battery, and the available 131 kWh extended-range battery. And no matter which battery size and Pro Power Onboard combination, you’ll have the power you need to finish the job, whatever it may be. Even using Pro Power Onboard with extended-range battery, the F-150 Lightning can support a worksite for three days without charging◊.

Pro Power Onboard opens up so many options with what you can do for work and play, without the need for a standard power source, as long as you keep your appliances within the power range. But what exactly can you get done? Here, we’ve gathered a list of projects that can be tackled with the truck and a few creative projects to illustrate just how versatile this game changing feature really is.

Available 9.6 kW Pro Power Onboard

Mobile Food Trailer

Put your culinary skills – and your F-150 Lightning – to good use with a professional-grade food trailer. It’s all the power you need to cook up your enchiladas, poutine, hamburgers or whatever the crowd is craving. You’ll need HVAC and fans (1,700 W), refrigerator (1,200 W), an electric food warmer (1,000 W), microwave oven (1,300 W), a 25-gallon water heater (3,500 W) and indoor/outdoor lighting (120 W) for a total of 8,820 W.

A birthday extravaganza

Invite the neighbourhood to the ultimate backyard birthday party for your kids. With Pro Power Onboard, this party will live on in legend, and it doesn’t matter how far from the grid you are. You’ll need a bouncy castle (1,000 W for the inflator), karaoke machine with amplifier (800 W), two inflatable tube men (2,000 W), cotton candy machine (1080 W), electric grille (1,200 W), balloon inflator (600 W) and three electric coolers (150 W) for a total of 6,830 W.

Outdoor concert on the beach with audience of 2,000

Picture this: the sun is setting over the lake, the lights come on, and you and your band are standing on an outdoor stage on the beach in front of 2,000 music lovers. You’ll be the hit of the summer with a lakeside concert, and it all happens with the F-150 Lightning’s portable power. You’ll need to set up a series of amps (3,000 W), piano keyboard (350 W), mixer (100 W), processors (40 W), concert lighting (3,000 W), plus all the mics, guitar pedals and other small gear (100 W), projector (500 W), fog machine (500 W), mini refrigerator for the band (60 W) for a total of 7,650 W.

Building a deck

That dilapidated deck is an eyesore and needs to be replaced, but you don’t need to hire anyone else. Get this new addition done yourself in a weekend, with the right tools and the right truck. Using a circular saw (1,200 W), a compressor (1,000 W) and a battery charger (200 W), the total power usage comes to 2,400 W.

Creative outdoor studio

Headed to the wilderness for a nature shoot for your vlog? Get all of your video shooting and editing done in remote locations all at once with Pro Power Onboard. You can do two computers (200 W), hard drive (25 W), drone charging (50 W) and camera charging (50 W). And throw in a microwave (1,000 W) and coffee maker (1,000 W) for some nourishment, all for 2,325 W.

Neighbourhood Drive-In

Hey, it doesn’t have to be all about work. Entertain the neighbours with a movie night under the stars in the local park, where the silent power of the F-150 Lightning won’t disturb the soundtrack. You’ll need a projector (500 W), loudspeakers (1,100 W), and, of course, a popcorn machine (800 W). Total is 2,400 W.

Pro Power Onboard offers real-world power for real-world jobs. If you’re serious about using your pickup for work and play, Pro Power Onboard gives you the possibilities to get them done.
