Fisker, the upstart automaker that just recently started deliveries of its first EV, the Ocean SUV, has just released details of another of its upcoming electric lineup – the Alaska EV pickup.

The automaker says the Alaska will be the most ‘sustainable’ pickup available, though we don’t have details as to exactly how that will be accomplished. We do know, however, that it will have a ‘Houdini’ tailgate door that separates the cab from the bed, extending the cargo area from 4.5 feet to 9.2 feet with the rear seats folded. The truck will be 17.4 feet long and ride on either 20- or 22-inch wheels.

The Alaska will be offered with two battery packs – 75 kWh and 113 kWh – that will offer range of 370 km and 547 km, respecitively. Zero-to-100 km/h acceleration for the mid-sized pickup will range from 3.9 seconds to 7.2 seconds, though all of these specs are what Fisker calls ‘targets’ and subject to change by the time the EV starts production in 2025.

Other features include a cowboy hat holder, a passenger tray with tablet holder, an insulated frunk and a cupholder large enough to accommodate a Big Gulp, should you be so inclined.
“Alaska breaks with convention,” says Henrik Fisker, chairman and CEO. “It doesn’t fit into any current segment, as it combines features of a mid-size pickup with the capabilities of a full-size thanks to its innovative expandable bed design.”
The Fisker Alaska will be built in an (as of yet) undisclosed factory in the US and start at US$45,400; reservations are being taken now on the automaker’s website.
