2022 Volkswagen ID.4


Good news travels fast, as does the 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 electric SUV that has finally arrived in Canada. The ID.4 will be Volkswagen’s first all-electric SUV, and is built on the automaker’s signature MEB electric vehicle architecture, known as the modular electric drive matrix.

In the official release, Volkswagen shares that the new EV SUV “marries the strengths of a purpose built EV with performance, packaging and value.” Commercial deliveries will begin in Quebec and British Columbia initially, with Ontario to follow and a national rollout scheduled for Q2 of 2022.

As for driving specs, the ID.4 RWD Pro starts at $44,995 and offers drivers an 82 kWh battery, 201 horsepower and an estimated range of 400 km. The ID.4 AWD Pro starts at $49,995 and features dual motors, 295 hp, and 386 km range. The best part? ID.4 drivers will receive three years of complimentary fast charging with Electrify Canada, and will qualify for the $5,000 federal iZEV Program, along with various provincial incentives.

The ID.4 also offers advanced driver assistance technology and a smart infotainment system. As for at-home charging, Volkswagen dealers will also be able to offer ID.4 customers with solutions designed to simplify the at-home charging process.

The highly-anticipated Canadian release of the ID.4 comes at a perfect time, as Volkswagen has made a commitment to be carbon neutral globally by 2050. With this in mind, the ID.4 is being produced at the Zwickau, Germany factory with a net carbon neutral balance.
