General Motors has announced its latest upcoming electric vehicle, and it’s sure to rival the GMC Hummer for its massive battery size.
The Cadillac Escalade IQ all-electric luxury SUV will be fully revealed later this year, but the company decided to tease it with a logo. No other details have yet been revealed, but it’s expected the EV will ride on GM’s Ultium platform, and may see production next year.
The Escalade has been Cadillac’s top-end luxury vehicle for more than 20 years, and currently sports a 6.2L V8. That will likely be replaced with two electric motors for the IQ version. Considering the GMC Hummer sports a battery pack up to 212-kWh pack that weighs more than a Honda Civic, the Escalade IQ will also likely get something very similar, if not the very same pack, considering the vehicle’s size.
The Escalade IQ will be Cadillac’s third EV to date, joining the Lyriq small SUV and the high-end Celestiq luxury sedan. The brand had said earlier this year that it would be revealing three more EVs this year, with the Escalade IQ the first to be announced. Cadillac had also said it plans to go all electric by 2030.
