DeLorean has shared a new, rear-facing teaser image of its ‘EVolved’ sports car, and confirmed that the debut for its electric successor to the vaunted DMC-12 has been moved up to May 31.
Originally slated to make its maiden appearance on August 18 at Pebble Beach Concours ahead of its ‘official’ reveal on the Concours’ Award Ramp three days later, the DeLorean Motor Company appears to have taken fan feedback to heart – “You asked. We listened.” – and has now confirmed via social media that the “first complete look” of the EVolved will take place at the end of this month.

Alongside the announcement, DeLorean has also provided its first clear look of the EVolved’s rear end, following a teaser image last month of the sports car’s rear haunch. Alongside the louvred rear window – a throwback to the original DMC-12 many had already anticipated – the most notable element of the design, penned by Italdesign, is the full-width rear lightbar and illuminated ‘DeLorean’ rear name badge. In another nod to its forebear, the rear lightbar filters into three tiers, a possible nod to the DMC’s ‘indicator-brake light-reverse light’ cluster. Though further homages to the original ’81-’83 model will almost certainly be included, this is the clearest look we’ve received yet to the more aerodynamically-efficient “clean sheet” design.
Fans and prospective customers can sign up for early access to the first complete look one day earlier on May 30. It remains to be seen though whether any details regarding the EVolved’s drivetrain will be provided.
