General Motors (GM), the American automaker that has recently shifted towards electrification, has just introduced an exciting new concept: EV Live. The immersive program offers consumers a “one-on-one experience” where the public can call into a live studio of EV specialists and have all their questions answered virtually. The best part? It’s entirely free.

The online forum aims to educate consumers about all things electric, without asking them to even step foot into a dealership. With a direct line to trained EV specialists, consumers can enjoy live tours of GM brand EVs and charging technology while having all their burning questions answered in real-time.

Users can connect to GM EV Live from any internet capable mobile or desktop device and schedule a free tour with a specialist (pending availability). Once connected, users will be able to chat with a designated GM specialist through voice or text chat. The video feed allows each user to see the GM specialist; however, the specialist cannot see the user they are connected to, which means WFH attire (pyjamas) are entirely acceptable.

“Addressing common misconceptions about EVs will accelerate widespread EV adoption. We saw a need for accessible, credible and engaging sources of information to empower consumers to adopt EVs and appreciate their many benefits,” shared GM vice president of EV Ecosystem Hoss Hassani. “With EV Live, we’re making it easier to learn about the EV experience. Whether you’re curious or skeptical, an experienced owner or brand new to EVs, the experts at EV Live are here to help.”

This latest initiative is aligned with GM’s plans to “take the EV sales crown” from Tesla, while bringing 30 new EVs to market by 2025. GM has also made a commitment of $7 billion to increase its annual production capacity to 1 million units in the same time frame.

According to the automaker, EV Live will also be available to assist its own network of dealers and employees, in addition to fleet and commercial customers, utilities, and third-party collaborators. Later this year, group tours will also become available, in addition to prerecorded sessions. Currently, GM EV Live hours are as follows:

• Monday–Thursday, 9 a.m.–midnight ET
• Friday, 9 a.m.–9 p.m. ET
• Saturday–Sunday, 11 a.m.–7 p.m. ET

You can schedule your own EV Live lookaround at the EV Live page.
