In case you missed it, Lucid Air made waves at the annual Goodwood Festival of Speed. Not only did the automaker debut its Air Grand Touring Performance for the first time to the public, but the EV also earned top spot as the fastest production car. Driven by professional driver Ben Collins, the Air Grand Touring Performance raced up the famed hill in an impressive 50.79 seconds.
The Air is the first EV to debut under the Lucid brand, which first generated buzz last fall with the Dream Edition model, and was followed by the Air Grand Touring. Now, with the launch of the Performance version of the Air Grand Touring, consumers are introduced to an undeniably powerful EV, with 1,050 horsepower and 446 miles of range.
At the festival, the Performance version of the Air also placed 12th overall in the entire Hillclimb Timed Shootout, which included track cars like the all-electric McMurtry Speirling fan car, which took first place. Perhaps even more impressive, the Air Grand Touring Performance was 100 per cent stock, including its low-rolling resistance tires.
Lucid Motors also showcased the standard Air Grand Touring model at Goodwood, as well as the Dream Edition. First EU deliveries of the Air are expected to begin late 2022 with a starting MRSP of $121,500, while the Air Grand Touring starts at $212,500.
