We know you’ve been waiting on pins and needles for it. Now, the first-ever ultra-luxury electric SUV is finally here in the form of the 2024 Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV. The all-new, all-electric SUV can best be described as an ultra-luxe, souped-up version of the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV with all the opulent bells and whistles the luxury namesake is known for – and then some.

According to Mercedes, the 2024 EQS SUV “combines technical perfection with Maybach exclusivity.” The SUV features a three-pointed star hood ornament, two-tone paint, a unique radiator grille and no shortage of sleek, chrome details, classic Maybach badging, 21- or 22-inch monoblock wheels, and an estimated 595-plus kilometre range on an all-wheel-drive dual motor powertrain.

With a 400 volt system, the EQS SUV boasts 649 horsepower and 700 lb-ft of torque, which translates to an estimated 100 km/hour in 4.1 seconds. With fast charging capabilities, the EQS 680 can reportedly charge to 80 per cent in about 31 minutes, while a Level 2 charger takes under 13 hours for an overnight full charge.

As you’d expect from Maybach, the interior drips with opulence. Passengers will enjoy the standard MBUX Hyperscreen (integrated with Mercedes-Maybach-specific start-up animations), in addition to 11.6-inch displays on the front seat backrests for rear passengers. Maybach offers “three different options of sustainably processed Nappa Leather” in addition to rear reclining seats with massage functions, a Dolby Atmos sound system, a floating front centre console, ambient lighting with 253 LEDs and 64 colours, and – wait for it – a trunk fridge perfect for keeping champagne chilled and at the ready.
