Earlier today, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) shared the design of their latest plug-in hybrid (PHEV) Outlander crossover SUV. The world premiere of the highly anticipated vehicle is set to take place on Thursday, October 28 at 12:30 pm JST (Wednesday, Oct. 27 at 11.30 am EDT) via a live stream on MMC’s global website.
Looking at the design, it’s clear that the new PHEV will rival the style of the all-new, gas-powered Outlander that launched earlier this year. The design concept – known as Bold Stride – expresses a “bold, fixating presence and solid stance.” Think: bold proportions, thick accents, a wide range of colour and feature options, and an evolved interior.
Similar to the gas-powered Outlander, the PHEV will come standard with third-row seating, which ensures active owners and families have complete flexibility while on the road. Sales are scheduled to begin in Japan in mid-December and in the US in the second half of 2022.
The Bold Stride design concept even earned accolades this year, with the gas-powered model of the Outlander has been named a Wards 10 Best Interiors Winner for 2021 in the United States. This award recognizes outstanding achievement in aesthetics, comfort, ergonomics, materials usage, fit-and-finish and user-friendliness of displays and controls.
