If you’ve been waiting for Porsche to release an EV with longer range, the wait is over. Porsche is now adding GTS versions of the Taycan electric sedan and Cross Turismo. Revealed at the LA Auto Show, the Taycan GTS and the Taycan GTS Sport Turismo are positioned to satisfy drivers who wanted longer range and a more responsive driving experience from the original lineup.

“The Taycan model range has grown steadily since its world premiere in 2019. Three body variants with up to five engine options offer something for everyone,” says Kevin Giek, vice president Model Line Taycan. “I am particularly pleased that we now also have a Taycan with the legendary GTS moniker. It is positioned above the Taycan 4S and below the Taycan Turbo derivatives, so it represents a real sweet spot in the range.”
The automaker shares that the new models will be equipped with the same front motor, rear motor, and two-speed rear transmission that is offered in its other performance models, but the total power output of the Taycan GTS and GTS Sport Turismo will be limited to 590 horsepower (compared with 670 hp for the Taycan Turbo). Notably, Porsche is promising a range of 504 kilometres (313 miles), along with the 93.4 kWh Performance Battery Plus featured in the Turbo and Turbo S.

Porsche notes that “all the standard and optional performance features have been massaged” in the new GTS versions to make the EVs even more responsive and connected to the road. “Even the Porsche Electric Sport Sound has been tuned to be deeper and louder for both bystanders and passengers alike,” shares the automaker.
The new GTS versions are expected to hit dealerships in the spring of 2022.
