In case you missed it, Volkswagen just announced the commencement of MY23 ID.4 electric SUV production for the North American market, with plans to significantly increase assembly in Chattanooga, TN to 7,000 cars per month. With production plans finally confirmed, Volkswagen has now also released details pertaining to the pricing, models, and features of the 2023 ID.4 for Canada.

The ID.4 will initially be available in either rear-wheel or all-wheel-drive, and powered by an 82kWh battery. The 82 kWh ID.4 Pro RWD model will start at $47,995, while the ID.4 Pro AWD version starts at $52,995, which includes 2,700 lbs of towing capacity and 410 km of range from a full charge, according to Natural Resources Canada estimates.
Volkswagen will also offer a rear-wheel-drive ID.4 with a 62 kWh battery starting at $43,995, which is expected to go into production in Q4 of this year. For these models, a single permanent-magnet synchronous electric motor generates 201 horsepower, while ID.4 Pro AWD models add an additional asynchronous motor at the front wheels to generate 295 horsepower.
As for features, the MY23 ID.4 packs a serious punch with new aluminum-alloy wheels, three trim levels, three new available wheel designs, and a new standard 12-inch infotainment display — just to name a few. With an upgraded exterior and interior design, including gloss black highlights on the front bumper, the new ID.4 is undeniably sleek. Similar to past iterations, the ID.4 will offer drivers a complete suite of state-of-the-art driver assistance technology, which is reportedly “further bolstered for 2023.”
Notably, the ID.4 is Volkswagen Group’s most popular all-electric model — in fact, the automaker delivered 190,000 units (globally) since its launch last year. MY23 ID.4 models are expected arrive at Canadian dealerships this fall.
