The 2022 Volvo C40 Recharge is officially set to hit the Canadian market at a starting price of $72,600 which, customers are noting, means the new EV will not qualify for any provincial or federal rebates. For those unfamiliar, the rebate programs currently in place have a $45,000 cut-off point for basic models.
This price point takes Volvo’s first “pure electric vehicle” into the Luxury EV category, but offers prospective drivers no shortage of impressive features. The C40 Recharge is equipped with two electric motors (located at the front and rear of the vehicle) as well as an all-wheel-drive powertrain that offers 402 horsepower and 486 lb.-ft. of linear torque. The automaker notes that this is enough power for the EV to go from 0 to 100 kilometres in 4.7 seconds.
The C40 Recharge also boasts an impressive range – specifically, 360 km, pending EPA certification, with a 78 kWh battery pack that can reportedly charge from 10 to 80 per cent in 33 minutes with DC fast charging. Finally, the Swedish automaker also installed Google Android Apps to assist with navigation and hands-free control.
These specs are paired with a long list of trim features, including a fixed panoramic moonroof, advanced Pixel LED lighting, Pilot Assist, Harman Kardon Premium Sound, 360° Surround View Camera, and 20-inch wheels.
The Volvo C40 Recharge EV is officially available for pre-order, and deliveries are slated to begin in the spring.
